Bon Iver is back, baby! Their first single in five years, “S P E Y S I D E”, has the same minimal heart-wrenching quality of Justin Vernon’s early work. As one YouTube comment on the track’s music video reads reads, “Bro went back to the cabin,” and boy, are we grateful. Alongside the single, Justin et al. have announced that a further EP will drop next month. If it’s anything like the single, it’s gonna be a sad, sad autumn – in the best way, of course.
Ain’t no party like a Dirty Hit party! Last night, dh2 — Dirty Hit’s new dance music imprint — had a party at Dalston’s Next Door Records Two with George Daniel, Kelly Lee Owens, Oscar Farrell and a very keen crowd.
Femcels, this one’s for you: Ella Purnell will play a serial killer in a new TV role. Ella Purnell’s been unstoppable. After breaking through with her roles in Yellowjackets and Fallout, the rising actress will now be playing the role of Rhiannon Davis – a revengeful serial killer – in Sky Atlantic’s upcoming series Sweetpea. Based on the 2017 novel of the same name by CJ Skuse, the show will follow Rhiannon as she makes a mental list of everyone who has wronged her – her boss, her school bullies, freakish men –and then, ultimately, goes in for the kill. We figure it’s going to be a little bit Villanelle, a little bit Irina from Boy Parts, a whole lot of fun.
Grimes has hopped on the remix for Aespa’s “Supernova”. Grimes is so back. Well, not quite – but her new remix for the K-pop group is quintessential Grimes, channelling her production from the Art Angels days. “I normally don’t do remixes but I could not resist messing with this acapella even though the original production on this song is undefeatable,” Grimes said on X. “I went back to cyber twee for this… it’s very Grimesy.” And Grimesy it is.

Things get surreal in Daniel Roseberry’s first campaign for Schiaparelli. Though Daniel first joined Schiaparelli back in 2019, his debut campaign for the fashion house sees his exciting vision come to life. Shot by renowned fashion photographer Johnny Dufort on the precipice of nightfall, the campaign feels somewhat liminal, though the backdrop of the Place Vendôme firmly roots it to the house’s Parisian roots. Featuring some staples from this season’s ready-to-wear collection such as the amber Anatomy bag and the illusory trompe l’oeil’ body suit dress, the campaign showcases Daniel’s work for the house at its finest.

Prada SS25 was bugged out chic for the perennially online. This season, Miuccia and Raf were interrogating the deep roots of our personally tailored algorithms and our obsession with infinite streams of content, where no two feeds are ever the same. Cyber-coded insect glasses nodded to bug-eyed doom scrollers paired with hole-strewn, glistening plasticky dresses and skirts. With typical Prada flair, the ugly was imagined anew: “We wanted not to critique but to engage with this idea, to open a dialogue inspired by our cultural moment,” Miuccia said in the show notes. Here’s to doomscrolling!

Clarks’ FW24 collection takes a deep dive into Tokyo’s subcultural history. For Clarks’ new streetwear-inspired line, it made sense for the brand to head to one of the world’s biggest streetwear hubs where Clarks desert boots are a known and loved staple: Tokyo’s Harajuku. The collection nods to some of the district’s most favoured styles, such as leopard print pony hair, beaded laces and scaled-up platform soles. Alongside the collection, the shoe brand has created a new documentary looking into the people and places that have shaped the streetwear hub into what is now.
