Mickey 17‘s release has been delayed… again. Though Bong Joon-ho’s sci-fi black comedy wrapped production back in November 2022, there’s been even more delays to its January 2025 drop. It’s now coming on 18 April. Apparently, rumours of Warner Bros having little faith in the film aren’t true. The point of contention is the film’s Korean distributor having the right to release it first, and they wouldn’t shift from their January date, widely seen in the western film world as a sluggish month for movies. Moving the film later in the year, after this year’s Oscars, can be seen as a sign of Warner Bros hoping to push it as a film for the 2026 awards season instead.
