The quest to get Twin Peaks back onto our screens is nearly as dramatic as the series itself. David Lynch left the project after conflicts with the network, then returned upon the insistence of the cast—and the promise of more funding. Now, it looks like Lynch has brought a new face with him: Laura Dern.
While the actress didn’t appear on the original series, she’s a longtime Lynch collaborator, having starred in Wild at Heart and Blue Velvet. Fans theorize she’ll be playing Diane, the unseen woman Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) records copious audio memos for in the original series.
Showtime, the US TV network reviving the show, has kept all of the Twin Peaks details under wraps so far. In fact, they’ve only confirmed Kyle MacLachlan’s return to the show. But Amanda Seyfried has been photographed on set, along with Peter Sarsgaard, and Balthazar Getty. Sherilyn Fenn has also confirmed she will reprise her role as Audrey Horne, while Sheryl Lynn Lee will return as Laura Palmer.
