We asked a handful of our favourite photographers to look back at 2019 and remember it through the photographs they took. From i-D contributions to personal pictures of friends, family and strangers on the street, this is Florian Joahn: My Year in Photos.
29-year-old Florian Joahn was born and raised in Germany, but currently resides in London. Studying fine art at university, it wasn’t until four years ago or so that he really got into photography. Now working full time, he contributes to titles like Vogue Italia, Dazed Beauty and CNN. “For money I jump between music and fashion jobs,” he says. “But for myself I’m always investigating subcultures.” For his contribution to My Year in Photos, Florian takes us through a series of portraits shot in São Paulo, a project that “means a lot” to him and defined his 2019.
