Is this… the show of our dreams?

Jill Soloway, the woman behind Transparent, one of our very favourite shows, is about to start another fresh venture. Her studio Topple Productions — so named for an Emmy speech in which she shouted “Topple the Patriarchy!” — is at work on a brand new series about early feminist cowgirls. That sentence alone ticks quite a few of our boxes.

Set in Texas during the 1940s, the show will follow a band of women decide to form an all-female rodeo while the men of their town are away fighting World War II. For those of you who love a good period drama (and the costumes that come along with it) this might be the show to tune into after you’ve exhausted Caitriona Balfe’s Outlander.

So far the series looks to be helmed entirely by women, with Cassie Pappas handling the script. Pappas worked on the groundbreaking Showtime seriesThe L Word — soshe’s certainly no stranger to telling women’s stories right. Topple Productions confirmed to NYLON everything was still in early pilot stages, but if it all goes ahead you’ll be seeing it on Amazon. Here’s hoping, because you had us at cowgirls.
