Despite supporting gay rights in a previous life and perhaps helping to sink Donald Trump’s first rollback of LGBTQ protections, Ivanka Trump hasn’t acted as an exceptionally big muzzle on her father’s power since he was inaugurated what feels like 84 years ago. Regardless, activists are being very generous to the first daughter. The grassroots art movement Dear Ivanka hasn’t slowed down since planning a candlelight vigil and helping their titular antagonist move to Washington. Now LGBTQ climate activists have thrown a dance party at Javonka’s new DC home. Certainly seems a fun way to process the alarming news that our president recently tore up a bunch of climate policies and slashed funding to the EPA, not to mention revoked protections for LGBTQ government employees and removed LGBTQ issues from the census.

“It’s time to WERK for Mother Earth,” read the rainbow rave’s event page. “The entire Trump Administration has shown a blatant disregard for our planet and it’s [sic] inhabitants, like paving the way for the Dakota Access Pipeline displacing the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. The reality is that the people most affected by the administration’s bad climate decisions are our most vulnerable friends: our poor, working class, native, trans, & POC siblings. We must put our bodies on the line for our earth and for all who depend on its resources.” The organizers also targeted climate change-denying EPA head Scott Pruitt, former Department of Energy abolitionist Rick Perry, and former Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson, who happens to live next door to Jared and Ivanka. Unfortunately, none of them came out to dance under a shower of biodegradable glitter, even though Perry definitely would have had something to wear.
