There must be something in the water south of the river as it's keeps on pumping out excellent grime crews.

Alongside Stormzy, The Square and Novelist, South London crew Section Boyz are creating a self-sufficient scene reminiscent of the early DIY days of Bow, E3. The six man crew may be considered local but their sound is spreading globally. Rita Ora‘s a fan, as is Drake, who Instagrammed about their new mixtape, Don’t Panic, with the words ‘Support the guys’, a UK flag and high-five emoji. Street heaters like Delete my Number and Trappin’ Ain’t Dead have solidifed the Lewisham rhymers as a serious force to contend with, and their new mixtape further enforces their importance as emerging voices in the UK Rap/Grime narrative: from the witty Who Needs A Hook to the menacing Don’t Like That, Don’t Panic is already on trending on iTunes and is currently No.1 on the Hip Hop charts.

The crew are keen to retain a sense of mystery. Despite various attempts to glean more from them, here is all we were able to find out Sleeks, Swift, Deepee, Littlez, Knine and Inch, all aged between 19 and 22….

    Who are you?
We’re a group from South London.

What do you think the scene needs to do to continue to go from strength to strength?
Not hate on each other and work together more.

    What are your mates like?
Funny. They’re the best bunch of friends you can have.

What advice would you give kids about growing up?
Stay in school. Chase your dreams. Don’t watch nobody. Do you.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
    Stick to what we’re doing.

    What’s on your bucket list?
We want to build an empire; mansions, businesses and success.

Do you have any regrets yet?
Not taking this seriously from the start.

    Age is…
    Nothing but a number.
