Danny Boyle’s cult 90s classic Trainspotting celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and its long awaited sequel will finally start shooting in May. Ewan McGregor, aka the film’s on/off heroin junkie antagonist Mark Renton, recently confirmed to Collider that the cast is still banking on a 2016 release for Boyle’s Untitled Trainspotting Sequel. And apparently the script is “really, really, really good.” Scriptwriter John Hodge has based it, as expected, off Porno — Irvine Welsh’s 2002 sequel to his original 1993 novel.

“It’s been 10 years since Irvine Welsh wrote the sequel novel, Porno, so it’s been a long time, a lot of speculation,” McGregor said. “For me, too! 10 years ago, I didn’t want to do it; I wasn’t ready to do it. Also, there was no script.” He continued, “The script only arrived very recently, which was really, really, really good. I think, if that had not happened, none of us would be into it. I think we’re all sort of somewhat protective of what Trainspotting means to people, and what it means to us. None of us want to make a poor sequel to it. So had we not been presented with the most extraordinary script, which we were, I think we wouldn’t be making the sequel. But because we were, we are.”

Jonny Lee Miller, Ewen Bremner, and Robert Carlyle will reprise their roles as Sick Boy, Spud, and Begbie for the sequel. Only one question remains: who’s on board for the soundtrack?
