Happy Monday! The new week is here and with it comes the chance to delve deep into some fresh culture and fashion. Here’s your latest look at the i-D Guide.
Wear… GOOP x Lacoste
Queen of holistic thinking and lifestyle guru Gwyneth Paltrow joins forces with tennis and sportswear legends Lacoste for an AW22 collection. Look closely and you might see one of the inspirations: that dress worn by Margot in Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums. It’s available to purchase from Goop and Lacoste directly from 15 November.
Snag… a TEKLA dressing gown
It’s getting cold outside now, and with the cost of living crisis forcing many of us to crank the bills up, why not invest in a more long-term warmer, like a dressing grown from TEKLA? They’ve added a fluffy white flannel one for the new collection, but you’ve got plenty to choose from. Head here to choose yours.
Watch… Aftersun
Paul Mescal and Frankie Corio shine as the two leads in Charlotte Wells’ perfect, nostalgic debut Aftersun. Set in a Turkish holiday resort in the late 90s, it charts the pair’s father-daughter relationship, and uses memory and hindsight to reflect upon where the hidden cracks in our psyches lie. It’s in UK theatres from 18 November.
Read… 1000 Coils of Fear
Berlin-based author Olivia Wenzel makes her first real splash outside of her home country with 1000 Coils of Fear, her fiction novel debut after years of being a playwright. It focuses on a young Black woman living in Berlin and New York during the rise of Trump’s America, and the ripple effect of fascism, both historical and present day, on her life. Buy your copy here.
Listen to… Kam-Bu
Kam-Bu has something to say and he’s not one for holding back. On his attitude-drenched new single, “Eton Mess”, the 25-year-old takes on British politics over a bassy Jakwob production. “The frustration of being a young person in this country right now is at an all-time high,” he says. “Being vocal about it makes it easier I guess.” Follow him here.
Go to… Skate Lates with UNIQLO
Every year as winter comes, the central court of Somerset House in London gets a chilly ice rink makeover, seeing us all the way through to the new year. But it’s not all children and pensioners falling on their asses — Uniqlo are attracting the right crowd with their Skate Lates season. Collectives and artists like Daytimers and Pxssy Palace will be taking over every Wednesday and Thursday evening, starting with the ESEA Sisters this week. Check out more information here.
