Good Manners Music have announced they will be donating all profits from Saturday’s Good Island Festival to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre(ASRC), with some artists waiving their fees in support of the cause. In a statement made yesterday, Hugh McClure from Good Manners explained: “Given the current climate politically, we think this is a worthwhile gesture of funds and helps highlight the issues refugees are facing worldwide including Manus Island close to home. We’re encouraging all patrons to join us in solidarity with ASRC as an organisation doing work on the frontline of refugee advocacy and support.”
The first of its kind for Melbourne, Good Island will showcase some of Australia’s most progressive live acts and visual talents, building a platform for creative collaboration across a number of disciplinary art forms. The line up includes i-D friends and favourites Oscar Key Sung, Phebe Schmidt, Freya Esders, Angie Pai, Corin, Kllo, Lossless and Marcus Whale so you know we’re excited.
The festival, in collaboration with i-D, kicks off from 3pm this Saturday at Bella Union, Carlton. To help a good cause and have a great day, grab your tickets here.
