We’re going back to our cut-and-paste experimental roots with a new print project.

“In 1980, the magazine was intentionally handmade,” i-D founder Terry Jones has said of our genesis. Everything was cut, shuffled around and stuck on big boards before being copied and sent to the printer. Even the logo was hand-painted.

38 (!) years later and, while the magazine may have become glossier and weightier, we’re still paying homage to our DIY roots — this time with a collector’s edition featuring a unique remix of imagery and text from our spring and summer 18 issues.

The first in a line of special releases guest edited by a selection of friends, designers and creators, the new limited edition sees Kaia Gerber ripped up and stuck back together with duct tape. Interviews with Cardi B and Dave superimposed with slogans like: “The kids are united, they’ll never be divided”. There’s even SZA shot by Petra Collins looking peachy, Tim Walker’s lost boys and an inked up Jazzelle, both in tattoos and i-D stamps. Better yet, its high quality, large format spreads fold out into an A2 pullout — forming a truly collectable series (that you can hang in pride of place on your bedroom walls too).

The edition launches this Thursday at London’s Machine-A, before being sold online at the i-D store and through specialist selected fashion retailers from Friday. Priced £20 and with only 500 copies printed — be sure to get in quick.

Only 500 copies will be available worldwide. The first 50 copies will go on sale at Machine-A from 7pm-10pm on Thursday 31 May. The remaining copies will be available on Thursday 7 June from the following stores:
