i-D and Marc Jacobs have really been getting into the party spirit recently. Having thrown a wild rave in New York City and a dinner party with Ghetto Gastro at Art Basel Miami, we thought it was time to take all that buzzing energy into the desert. And what better way to do so than by kicking off Coachella weekend with poolside cocktails and explosive live performances from rappers Fivio Foreign and Lil Durk?
From Mia Khalifa to Zack Bia, who hit the decks with Kitty Cash, all our favourites gathered at the iconic Viking Villa in Palm Springs to soak in the California sunshine with Alastair McKimm and Marc Jacobs. Our guests brought some serious fashion energy, but luckily Marc Jacobs provided the shades – their SS23 eyewear collection, becoming the perfect addition for selfies in the desert mirrors. How chic!
The party lasted all through the afternoon, culminating in a raucous set by Lil Durk, the Chicago-born rapper, singer and face of the brand’s Summer 2022 campaign. Photographer Andrew Morales documented everything that went down, snapping shots of the most stylish partygoers — including Leonardo DiCaprio, Idris Elba, Lewis Hamilton, Amelia Gray, Aminé, The Clermont Twins, Verdy, and more — before they headed off to the festival. What does Marc Jacobs mean to you? On my first trip to LA, I bought a Marc jacobs wallet and on for my wedding, when I had no money, I saved up to buy my wife Marc Jacobs. So, he means so much to me! We have many Marc Jacobs memories.

To me, Marc Jacobs means freedom, expression, authenticity, just being yourself, having fun.

Being bold, incorporating “the culture” in fashion — one of the first few people to really do that.
