In further evidence that vinyl is killing the streaming industry, a student in Canada has been photographed listening to a record player in class.
The student, who had also driven to school that morning in a Ford Model T, was reacting to a ban on cell phones in his physics midterm. According to a tweet by his teacher, Eric Saueracker, “I said no cell phones, not even for music since they could be used to cheat. This student brought in a record player and is bumping Kanye in his headphones right now…”
Of course, there’s been much talk of a surge in vinyl sales in recent years, with purchases predicted to overtake that of actual food by the year 2020. While an impressive 99% of the vinyl market is cornered by Noel Gallagher, it is thought that the student was listening to Kanye West’s 2004 debut, The College Dropout.
We have reached out for comment, and it is hoped he will respond by post in the next 3-5 working days.
