In a world ruled by androids, Olly Alexander is proclaimed the perfect human and held as some kind of dance prisoner. He excels at it. The video for Sanctify — the band’s first single since their four-times platinum selling album Communion back in 2015 — is pure Blade Runner and the song is what JT wishes he had made his comeback with.

A lot of people have chosen this week to rework our favourite music from last year, which was a nice surprise. Knowing we’ve still not had enough, MUNA just released acoustic versions of their biggest tunes on About U: One Year On. You’ll find our favourite, Crying on the Bathroom Floor on our playlist alongside a new and moody take on Lorde’s Supercut from El-P and Run the Jewels, and a slowed-down, stripped back look at St. Vincent’s Los Ageless from Kanye-collaborators DJDS. Hot Chip, meanwhile, keep it very 2018 — taking Troye Sivan’s My My My to a disco and getting it drunk and sexy.

There have been more than a few records released today; Lil Yachty blessed fans with Lil Boat 2, London indie rockers Gengahr gently released their beautiful second album Where Wildness Grows into the world, Young Fathers gave us Cocoa Sugar and Norwegian techno-pop angels Smerz went mad for field recordings on their second full-length, Have fun.

Remember Warpaint? Of course you do. Well, Theresa just announced her debut solo album Love Leaks (due 18 May on LoveLeaks and Caroline International) with the first track, which is also called… you guessed it, Love Leaks. She describes the project as “downtempo, pretty sexy, and a bit emotional,” which sounds exactly like us tbh. Experience it live at the Royal Albert Hall on 22 May when Theresa opens for Nick Mulvey.

Aside from that, there’s new stuff from Wiley, Hinds, James Jacob and T.Williams, Jon Hopkins, Tanerelle, Ojerime and plenty more where that came from. See you next week!
