What would you really do if the end of the world was coming? Embrace your loved ones? Put your affairs in order? Or would you close the curtains and binge watch your favourite series in the dark because at least after the apocalypse nobody would judge you for it? I’d probably do the latter.
If you chose the latter too, then you’re gonna love Netflix’s new series The End of the Fucking World. After originally premiering on Channel 4 last October, the show is set to fill the hole left by Stranger Things, The Crown and the 10 seasons of Friends you rewatched over the weekend.
Based on a comic of the same name by Charles Forsman, The End of the Fucking World follows teenagers Alyssa and James on a darkly comedic roadtrip (because Alyssa has run away with serial animal-killer and psychopath James, without knowing that he plans on killing her).
The trailer shows James and Alyssa falling in love (kinda) and embarking on a less than wholesome roadtrip after punching James’s dad, stealing his car, blowing it up in the woods and abusing some service staff on the way.
“It’s not your typical boy meets girl story,” Netflix says, which is an understatement. And given that it’s already 100% certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s definitely worth becoming your next 8 episode binge.
