What’s the best thing to happen to you this w/c 4 December? Way up there for us is Charli xcx and her announcement that she’s about to release the ultimate pop mixtape. Due 15 December, Pop2 promises features from Carly Rae Jepsen, Caroline Polachek, Brooke Candy, Mykki Blanco, MØ and more. Getting us warmed up for the main event, Charli (one of the greatest songwriters of our time) just shared the totally banging lead single Out Of My Head with guest vocals from good friends, Swedish angel Tove Lo and green haired Finn, Alma. What a way to open this week’s playlist of THE BEST NEW MUSIC.
And there’s more new things: LA band The Neighbourhood can’t handle commitment in their familiar sounding The Weeknd-esque Scary Love, while Sufjan To Be Alone With You Stevens has finally released the ode to figure skater Tonya Harding, which he’s been trying to write for the past 26 years. It’s beautiful. Something a bit different next from two of Virginia’s finest metal bands Windhand and Satan’s Satyrs, who have teamed up on Old Evil for “an amp-worshiping acid trip from hell!” Kind of how this hangover’s feeling, then.
Next up, south London Drake soundalike 169 kills it with Gone, 19-year-old Arizona-born LA-based pop newcomer Kailee Morgue wows us with a very vulnerable Discovery, and Cuban queen Camila Cabello does it again with Never Be The Same. Plus, there’s good stuff from the likes of Russia’s traptastic Ic3peak, Fredwave, Blessed, Not3s, Etherwood, Floni, Turbotito, D Double E ft. Wiley (D’s about to release a new album don’t you know), Beamon, SOPHIE (check this video out) and lovely Rejjie Snow. Listen up and follow us for a fresh load of new music each Friday.
