Some speculated Taylor had nominated the date on purpose, labelling the move a deliberate dig at Kanye and his late mother. But a rep from the singer’s label was quick to shoot down the speculation, claiming there was no deliberate correlation.
Kanye’s fans, for their part, don’t buy it. They’ve hatched a plan to undermine the release of Taylor’s album and instead celebrate the life of Donda West. Redditors have resolved to spend Noveber 10th — or as they’re dubbing it, Hey Mama Day — “showing respect” to Donda by playing nothing but Kanye’s Hey Mama.
They’re hoping that with enough streams, they can get Hey Mama back on the charts on the 10th anniversary of Donda’s passing. There’s even a Spotify playlist called ‘For Donda West’ — it’s just Hey Mama repeated 500 times.
