The 21-year-old scream queen has really found her niche.

Did you ever know a kid who never tried Hot Pockets then got addicted as soon as they moved to college? If Hot Pockets were horror films and college was Hollywood, Anya Taylor-Joy is sort of like those kids. The 21-year-old actress once told Vanity Fair that she had never seen a scary movie until she was cast in The Witch, and after consuming a gore-heavy movie diet to prepare for the role, her IMDb page proves she’s acquired a taste for them. (She did switch it up a bit to play a young Barack Obama’s girlfriend in the Netflix movie Barry.)

Next up for our favorite new-wave scream queen? Nosferatu, a remake of the unofficial silent-era adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Variety reports that Taylor-Joy is wrapping up negotiations to star in the latest version — it was previously remade by Werner Herzog in 1979 — which will see her reunite with The Witch director Robert Eggers. Eggers confirmed that he would be remaking the cult vampire classic in November. “It feels ugly and blasphemous and egomaniacal and disgusting for a filmmaker in my place to do Nosferatu next,” the modest young movie whiz said on Indiewire’s Filmmaker Toolkit podcast. “I was really planning on waiting a while, but that’s how fate shook out.” We have a hunch he’ll nail it.

Eggers hasn’t lined up anyone to play house-hunting Transylvanian vampire Count Orlok. Taylor-Joy will likely play Ellen, the wife of Orlok’s real estate agent. Luckily the actress has experience dealing with bloodthirsty immortals: her very first role was playing an unnamed “Feeder Girl” in the the teen fantasy film Vampire Academy.
