New York Fashion Week’s schedule has thinned over the past year, with many American designers choosing to go west — or all the way to Europe. Tom Ford and Tommy Hilfiger have both decamped to L.A, where MADE’s fashion events have been making a mark. Last month, Opening Ceremony and Moschino chose to present their resort 18 collections at MADE’s second annual Los Angeles event. This season, Rodarte and Proenza Schuler staged shows in Paris during couture week, at the invitation of France’s Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture.
But there is an American designer bucking the trend and retuning home. Rihanna is set to bid Paris farewell after showing her last two collections in the city: the first at the Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild, and the second in the Richelieu-Louvois Library. The artist will head back to the Big Apple in September, to share her spring/summer 2018 collection and return some star power to the week. Rihanna launched the now wildly successful collaborative line during NYFW in 2016.
