A lot of musicians dance in music videos, but no one moves quite like Chelsea Jade. The Kiwi has always elevated her strange elegance to near contemporary art levels, but in her new video, Life of the Party, she is taking things to new places. Describing the clip to i-D, she explains she wanted to “present an abstracted party scene imbued with humour and melancholy.” Playing with the idea of disinterested recluses being dragged to parties she worked with comedian Chris Parker to choreograph a scene of “oblique energy, manifesting in an understated manner which feels really immersive when you get close.”
This is an ode to “personalities that don’t take up the whole room but make their corner completely electric.” Sounds like our kind of gang.
