can’t make it to sydney fashion week? live vicariously through these instagrams

So you can’t make it to Sydney to bathe in the sun and style of Australian fashion week. That’s okay, let us soothe your FOMO with some quality Instagram stalking.

    Emma Mulholland

Regular fashion week favourite Emma Mulholland chose to skip the runway this year, but that doesn’t mean she’s out of sight and out of mind. Rather the intergalactic, sequin loving, palm tree-worshiping talent made a zine called Holiday! Shot by her beautiful mates all around the world, the only brief she gave them was “they were free to do what they wanted…I simply sent everything some of the new collection to incorporate but the intention was to profile some interesting creatives including artists, photographers, models and musicians.”

Come celebrate Holiday with Emma and i-D this Tuesday at her launch party!

    Rachel Rutt

Despite being a fashion week regular and friend and muse to several designers and creatives, Rachel Rutt has always kept her feel pretty model free. Rather, she tends to focus on her music and weaving projects, but this year she’s changing things up a little. After walking in Dion Lee’s opening show on Sunday, the Heart People member will avoid the runway. Rather, this year she’s going to enjoy the week as a fashion fan, attending her friends shows and posting about her experiences and thoughts. We’re looking forward to some fresh insights from one of Australian fashion’s quietest, but most thoughtful, faces.

    Sarah Schofield

Although she’s appearing at MBFW as part of the Next Gen program, Melbourne based designer Sarah Schofield is anything but green. The Institut Français de la Mode graduate spent time at Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Nina Ricci, Versace and Jacquemus before launching her own brand ASSK with Ag Kowalewski. Over its short, but achingly impressive, life ASSK drew a global cult following — yes, Rihanna was a fan — and was stocked in some of the most desirable retail spaces on the globe. Now after completing her Master of Fashion at RMIT, she’s back with her own label. As you can probably tell, we’re big fans of her bold designs, and dedicated followers of her Instagram. Her road trip up to Sydney was a recent highlight.

    Poppy Lissiman

You can’t walk down the street in Sydney without spotting one of Poppy’s bright accessories, so chances are the fashion week crowd will be punctuated with her witty and bold treats. Keep up to date with how some of the cutest kids in town are wearing her pieces, and gleam some outfit ideas that would make Cher Horowitz proud.

    Pageant

After being such a firm fashion girl favourites for so long, it seems crazy that this year will mark Pageant’s MBFW debut. The Melbourne darlings will be presenting Tunnel Vision tomorrow and we couldn’t be more excited to see what they have in store. Although if the past seven years have taught us anything, it’s that once it’s off the runway, we’ll be seeing it on every cool kid’s Instagram for the rest of the year.

    Yasmin Sewell

This year sees the return of one of Australian fashion’s favourite prodigal daughters, the impossibly perfectly tousled Yasmin Sewell. The legendary fashion director, stylist, buyer and Etre Cecile founder is in town to show a whole nation how to style curls, take a selfie, and be the most enviable career woman on the internet.
