    christmas with winnie harlow

To celebrate the advent of the festive season, we asked i-D's family and friends to share their most cherished Christmas memories, reflect on whether they’ve been naughty or nice, and tell us their New Year’s resolutions for 2017.

Winnie Harlow is the 22-year-old Canadian model with striking looks, an infectious personality, and vitiligo, the autoimmune condition that causes partial depigmentation of the skin. Uniquely in Winnie, this has happened in perfectly symmetrical patches, making her beauty even more striking. You’ve probably seen her around, perhaps on America’s Next Top Model, in her now iconic Nick Knight shoot, on Instagram just hanging with Jaden Smith or Lady Gaga, walking Coach’s punk rock autumn/winter 16 show, or maybe even as the star of Swarovski’s new Crystaldust Crew campaign, shining bright like a diamond.

Happy Christmas, Winnie! So what’s going on in your photo then?
One of my godmothers used to take me everywhere. This was one of our many trips to the fair. She would take me to holiday parties and she took me to see the Barney movie (Barney was my favourite at this age!)

Have you been naughty or nice this year?
I think we all have a bit of naughty to our nice.

    What’s on your Christmas list?
I prefer to give than to receive. My sister wants an iPhone, my niece wants a Barbie and my cousin wants a winter coat so Winnie Claus is gonna head to the North Pole.

How will you be spending Christmas day?
I’m going back to Toronto to spend quality time with a lot of family and friends.

What’s your favourite Christmas song of all time?
    Christmas Eve by Justin Bieber.

Who do you want to kiss under the mistletoe?
    Ask me next year.

What’re the best/worst Christmas present you ever received?
The best was a solid gold charm bracelet. And worst was probably a box of shortbread cookies only because those are my least favourite cookies.

    What were your 2016 highlights?
My magazine covers, signing to a new agency, the Lemonade reveal, and experiencing Australia for the first time (that was on my bucket list!)

How will you usher in the New Year?
With positivity and determination for a happy and successful 2017.

What are your New Year’s resolutions?
I don’t believe in them. I think if you know you want to change something you should change it right then and never wait for the New Year.
