Kristen Stewart has been revealed as one of the 68 directors selected for the shorts program at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, to be held January 19-29 in Park City, Utah.
Stewart wrote and directed Come Swim, her solo directorial debut (she co-directed a four minute short, Sage + The Saints, in 2014). Clocking in at 17 minutes, the short is billed as “a diptych of one man’s day; half impressionist and half realist portraits,” and boasts a score by St. Vincent, AKA Annie Clark, who will soon make her own directorial debut with a feminist horror film.
Come Swim was produced by Stewart’s Sage + The Saints collaborator David Ethan Shapiro, and will star new faces Josh Kaye and Sydney Lopez, known previously for their work as a production designer and stylist, respectively.
