Born in London, but raised in California, Staz Lindes is the 24-year-old model, musician and muse everyone’s talking about. Scouted as a teenager, in a bowling alley in Santa Monica (she had short pink hair at the time) fashion and music run in Staz’s blood. Her mum, Mary, was a model and muse in the 70s, while her dad, Hal, was a guitarist in rock band Dire Straits. Following in both parent’s footsteps, Staz is both a member of a riot girl punk bank, The Paranoyds, as well as one of the coolest models around, who can be seen gracing the runways of everyone from Max Mara to Moschino, Sonia Rykiel to Saint Laurent. In fact Saint Laurent love her so much that she’s just been crowned the latest ambassador of YSL beauty. 2016 has been a very good year for young Staz, let’s hope 2017 is even better!
Happy Christmas, Staz! What’s going on in your photo then?
This is me – post opening presents and eating Christmas roast. I think this is my “I’m full” face. In England we have a tradition of Christmas crackers, something I miss every year in America unless we’re able to find some. You pull the crackers apart and someone gets a prize but you receive a paper crown regardless.
Have you been naughty or nice this year?
Nice duh.
What’s on your Christmas list?
Leos Carax box set and then hopefully people will just give to charity in my name… I really don’t need more stuff and it feels like bullshit in a time like this.
How will you be spending Christmas day?
Between mom and dad’s.
What’s your favourite Christmas song of all time?
Darlene Love – Christmas (Baby Please Come Home).
Who do you want to kiss under the mistletoe?
A handsome dog.
What’re the best/worst Christmas present you ever received?
I hate this question they’re all the best.
What were your 2016 highlights?
Joining the YSL beauty family, going on tour across America, releasing two EPs, every gig we play.
How will you usher in the New Year?
Not sure yet I like going out of town and being with pals.
What are your New Year’s resolutions?
Putting out a full length, tour as much as we can, make another music vid, give as much as I can.
