Tyler, the Creator is already known as an incredibly multi-dimensional talent. But in the first glimpse at his new 45 minute film Cherry Bomb: The Documentary, we really get to see him in action. The documentary, which takes us behind the scenes of the making of his 2015 album Cherry Bomb, shows the full breadth of his skills. Yes, he is still being Tyler — hamming it up for the camera and at one point pretending to lick vomit off the street — but we also see him effortlessly controlling every aspect of the album’s creation. Largely set in the studio, the trailer shows him playing the piano, giving notes to a saxophonist, and even leading an orchestra.
Between the glimpses of genius are some impressive celebrity sightings: Kanye, Pharrell, A$AP Rocky, ScHoolboy Q, Cherry Glazer’s Clementine Creevy, and Syd from the Internet all make cameos.
The film was shot, produced, and cut by Mikey Alfred and Illegal Civ Cinema. It’s scheduled for a DVD release in January. Check out the trailer below.
