Chanel has been teasing us for months now, with pics and clips of actor, model, and social media starlet Lily-Rose Depp. We had started to think that maybe it would never come, but the iconic French design house has finally unveiled what we’ve all been waiting patiently for (ok fine, impatiently): the new video campaign for Chanel’s N°5 L’EAU. And it doesn’t disappoint.
So, who is the new Chanel girl after all? According to the campaign, she’s a mixed bag of opposites: composed yet excessive, vulnerable and yet invincible, and above all, both artist and muse. Depp embodies this series of dichotomies in the video, which sees her partying under a fireworks explosion, fiercely waving a Chanel flag on a rooftop, and mysteriously moving in solitude. Essentially, the video positions this new Chanel woman as someone we can all aspire to be — someone we know, and we don’t.
