There’s some exciting news from Hackney’s Dean Blunt and Brixton’s Gaika, but as you might expect, we don’t really know what it is. A cryptic email from Denna Frances Glass — previously known to us as the potentially made up manager/founding member of Hype Williams — arrived today with the subject line “hackneyvsbricky,” the information “dean blunt x gaika”, a link to hackneyvsbrixton.com and the promise, “soon come.”
On visiting the website, you will find an 97-second audio file, which may be called R6 and has a heavy dub beat with a melody somewhat similar to Gaika’s World Star. Gaika’s vocal asks “Are you really ready for me?” before Blunt comes in with “Do you wanna smoke with me? Do you wanna ramp with me? Girl wants fuck with me?”
What more is to come is unclear, but one thing’s for sure: it definitely can’t come soon enough.
