SZA’s debut album A may not ever arrive, if a recent tweet is anything to go by. The singer released her Z EP with Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) two years ago, and had planned to release her debut LPwith the label too. Now, she’s suggesting they’re holding back the record. In a since-deleted Tweet, the singer wrote “I actually quit. @iamstillpunch can release my album if he ever feels like it. Y’all be blessed.”
She tagged TDE’s President Terrence “Punch” Henderson, implying he may be behind the issue. SZA is one of seven artists signed to the label, which also represents Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q and Isaiah Rashad. Punch responded to SZA with a tweet of his own: a picture of Heath Ledger as the Joker with the caption ‘lol.’
SZA’s fans are distraught, and have flooded her Instagram comments and Twitter mentions with pleas for her not to give up on the record.
