Hello, it’s us, with the news today that Adele has officially gone Diamond. Just tenth months after the Tottenham born balladeer launched her third album with a smile and a wink on the cover of i-D (the world exclusive first interview in three years), reputable counters of records the RIAA have confirmed that 25 has shifted more than 10 million units since going on sale last year.
Yes, yes, that’s all very well, we hear you cry, but how did the singles perform? Well, Tobias Jesso Jr. cowrite When We Were Young has so far earned Platinum status while karaoke warbler Hello is now 7x Platinum (which in today’s pop landscape is pretty much equivalent to selling all of the records and then a couple more for good measure).
With previous album 21 also certified 14x Platinum, we say congratulations, Adele! Take the rest of the year off, we’ll see you on the other side.
