If Tim Kaine is a “human sweater vest,” Hillary Clinton is a human pantsuit — businesslike, effective, and usually awkward in informal situations. Happily, appearing uncomfortable is the sole function of a guest on “Between Two Ferns,” Zach Galifianakis’ Funny or Die spoof interview show. Hillary crushed the role like it was a Republican resisting tax increase.
Clinton’s appearance follows President Obama’s turn on the series in 2014, in which Galifianakis called the president a nerd and Obama teased the comedian about not being Bradley Cooper. Clinton, not a known comedienne, does not supply as many of her own jokes in her five minutes, but she does nail perfectly deadpan responses to questions like “As secretary, how many words per minute could you type?”, “When [Trump] gets elected and Kid Rock becomes Secretary of State, are you going to move to Canada?” and “What’s the best way to reach you? Email?”
Hillary also makes time for an important PSA about the significance of a female president — “Being the first woman elected President, what that would mean for our country, particularly what that would mean for not just little girls but little boys too, that’s pretty special” — and to generally firm up her support among the young folk.
The most important takeaway: nothing would be funny about Hillary not winning in November.
