When Rihanna chose to not show her Fenty x Puma collection at NYFW, fans wondered when, where, and how they’d witness her second season. But after her much talked about February debut, RiRi hasn’t fallen out of love with fashion week — she just wants to sample some global options.
The superstar will show the range at Paris Fashion Week on September 28. In a press release, she explained: “It’s a dream for me to be able to present my second collection of Fenty Puma by Rihanna in Paris.” She approached this season differently to her debut, and felt that the “theme and concept was best suited for one of my favorite cities, Paris.” While what that specifically means remains to be seen, it has been suggested that she’s going for a more intimate approach than her February celebrity-fueled extravaganza. If you can’t make it to Paris by next week, the whole show will be streamed on Tidal.
Since taking over as women’s creative director of Puma, Rihanna has proved she’s more than a name. In February Bloomberg reported that the label’s 2015 fourth quarter earnings were up 17.1 percent from the same time the previous year. The label largely attributed the bump to the popularity of the star’s sneakers. Puma CEO Bjoern Gulden marveled, “She can sell sneakers and Puma is onto something here which we haven’t seen yet in the women’s area.” Can’t argue with that.
