After whispers of Adele and a petition to book Kanye West, there are new reports the NFL has locked down a performer for the Super Bowl halftime show. Given Beyoncé’s politically charged performance this past February, whoever the organization books has very large shoes to fill. Now, it’s looking increasingly likely that Lady Gaga will step into those massive, meat shaped heels.
Us Weekly reported that Gaga has “officially signed on” to headline the Super Bowl 2017 halftime show and, while no other artists have been reported yet, it’s safe to assume she would be joined by a slew of special guests. But before you get too excited, it’s important to note the NFL has denied the reports. In a statement issued to The FADER, the organization clarified: “at this point we do not have a final decision.” Gaga’s performance at the February 5th event would certainly be well timed given her fifth studio album Joanne is due for release October 21. Here’s hoping we get some more official news shortly.
