As if the first version of Bird Song wasn’t catchy enough, M.I.A has released a second remix of the banger which has been produced by ex-boyfriend and collaborator Diplo. The first version of the track was produced by Blaqstarr, after Interscope – the label launching AIM – reportedly blocked the Diplo version. Originally, both versions of the song were set to be released on August 11, but for unknown reasons Interscope wouldn’t clear Diplo’s version. Being the outspoken rap-goddess she is, M.I.A took to social media, calling out Interscope for withholding the track, and promising fans the Diplo remix would follow shortly.
Now it has, in all its glory. In addition, M.I.A announced the list of tracks that will make up AIM. The album will include both versions of Bird Song, as well as the track M.I.A reportedly wrote with former 1-Direction darling, Zayn Malik, Freedun.
Via Instagram, M.I.A revealed the entire album was set to drop on September 9, which, for most of us, couldn’t come sooner. She also revealed the album will be available for pre-order come today. Prepare to soak up what could be M.I.A’s final studio album.
