Kehlani’s simmering addition to the Suicide Squad soundtrack is called Gangsta, and it’s an ode to all the Ride or Die boys out there. The star studded film will premiere in two days—and director David Ayer has made sure the soundtrack packs just as much heat. Skrillex, Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa and Grimes have all contributed tunes.
When Gangsta premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats1 show earlier this week, Ayer was on the line to talk about it. “There was this emotional quality to it, this sort of raw, broken yet strong haunting quality,” he explained. He told Lowe as soon as he heard Gangsta, he knew it was perfect for the film; “This is a beast, this is gonna smash.”
