Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez enlist some talented women to help them capture the spirit of the 60s and 70s.

Proenza Schouler’s new campaign is all about women — not just in front of the lens, but behind it too. i-D alum Julia BergshoeffSelena Forrest, and streetcast newcomer Alexa Peralta star, while Zoë Ghertner shoots and Marie Chaix styles.

Proenza’s designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez wished to pay tribute to the 60s and 70s, and as they explained in a statement, “capture an attitude of complete individualism, strength, and a celebration of diverse beauty that feels deeply relevant in today’s world.”

It feels like this season, more than any other, is about inspired casting and crews. As Jack and Lazaro consider the talent behind the imagery, other labels are making surprising choices in front of the lens: from Selena Gomez fronting Louis Vuitton to Marc Jacobs delivering Sissy Spacek, Genesis P-Orridge, and Missy Elliott. We can’t wait ’til they hit print.
