Trading in the catwalk for a “futuristic gateway,” Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen will reportedly be kicking off this year’s Olympics by strutting through the ornate gateway at Maracana Statidum in Brazil during the opening ceremony. The Summer Games begin on August 5 and mark the first Olympics to be hosted by South America.
Of course, this isn’t the first time that Gisele will be flying the flag for her native Brazil. In 2014 she teamed up with legendary soccer star Carles Puyol to present the FIFA World Cup (which was also hosted in the Maracana Stadium) trophy to Germany. Last month, she announced that she will be appearing in a new docu-series, Years of Living Dangerously, for the National Geographic on the destruction of the Amazon. “I’m excited to be joining season two of @YearsofLivingDangerously as a correspondent, exploring deforestation and climate change in my beautiful home country of Brazil,” she tweeted.
