“Welcome to the Institute of the Real and Really Real,” a blue suited Mahershala Ali says to apparent new recruit Laura Harrier (a star of the upcoming Spider Man film). A neatly suited Rowan Blanchard shows her around the building and Natasha Lyonne demonstrates her wide-eyed wonder and unique telephone manner.
In what could only be the next genius film commissioned by Kenzo cool kids Carol Lim and Humberto Leon — remember the teenage apocalypse Gregg Araki created? And the dreamy trailer park tale Sean Baker made with Abbey Lee? — creative polymath Carrie Brownstein has taken the reins.
The legendary guitarist of Sleater-Kinney has also roped in fellow rock legend Kim Gordon for the film, with the former Sonic Youther appearing to get married in a beautifully pleated white shirt and black PVC dress, to a very ordinary-looking dude in a stripey sweater.
Look forward to the full film, released on September 13.
