In her new clip for “Vaginoplasty,” the latest track off her album Rub, Peaches continues her lifelong celebration of bodies and sexuality. Being Peaches she communicates this through elaborate costumes, unicorn dancers, and synchronized swimming at an innuendo-heavy pool party. The artist stated that the NSFW, vagina-themed, Briana Gonzales-directed video was her take on the dreamy water ballets Esther Williams made famous in the 50s.

Co-staring are her much loved tour dancers, comedians Margaret Cho and Murray Hill, designer Kaycee Krieg, and musician Simonne Jones. Simonne also features on the track, and remixed “Sick In The Head” for Peaches’ all female remix record, Rub Remixed.

A lifelong warrior for feminist issues and sexual freedom, Vaginoplasty is part of Peaches’ ongoing effort to use art and music to make her audience question what makes them uncomfortable and why. Full of wit and whimsy, the video is testament to her consistent use of humor to bring people into her world. Speaking to i-D earlier this year she reflected, “You’ll still be taken seriously if you don’t take yourself too seriously — it doesn’t mean that you’re not doing important work. When people smile, it breaks down a barrier.” We couldn’t agree more. Also, thanks for the Halloween costume ideas.
