The BFC has today announced the young London designers who will be receiving NEWGEN support for the upcoming season. Familiar faces include Molly Goddard, Sadie Williams, Ashley Williams, Danielle Romeril, Faustine Steinmetz, Marta Jakubowski, and Ryan Lo, however this year they will be joined by NEWGEN newcomer Paula Knorr, a recent Royal Academy of Art graduate and emerging womenswear designer.

Set up in 1993, the program offers young designers the financial backing and mentorship needed to not only create their collection but also to showcase their work twice a year during London Fashion Week.

“Discovering, supporting and mentoring NEWGEN is the most vital and effective work the British Fashion Council does,” said NEWGEN chairman and BFC ambassador, Sarah Mower. “The designers who graduate through this scheme are the lifeblood of London and its reputation as a creative hotbed with business credentials developed at a very early stage,” said BFC ambassador for emerging talent and chair of the NEWGEN committee. “This generation is thinking of new ways of presenting and are natural communicators of the digital age — they are all individualists with exciting, optimistic ideas which are a delight to see.” Watch this space.
