Aristophanes, the Taiwanese rapper responsible for the brilliant “Scream” on Grimes’ Art Angels album, has debuted a new track. Called “3001 – A Space Disco,” the song played on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show, and is produced by Arcade Fire’s Will Butler. As with “Scream,” the new track is in Mandarin and follows “Dreams of Caves,” released earlier this year.
Of rapping in her mother language, she told i-D: “I don’t think there’s a totally efficient and 100% correct way to communicate with each other even in the same language. Everyone is a delicate and vulnerable system independently, and everyone has their own language growing inside their life. Misunderstandings happens, and it can be interesting. That’s why I don’t consider the boundary of language an annoying fact.” Listen to “3001 – A Space Disco” above, and watch a stellar performance of “Scream” with Grimes, below.
