Having broken her longstanding no interviews rule for, randomly, the BBC’s Andrew Marr two weeks ago — explaining why she paired Afghanistan and Kosovo with Washington DC on her new album — PJ Harvey is back to keeping schtum. Even her friend Jehnny Beth of Savages — who recently revealed Polly Jean has been editing her songwriting — could not get the elusive musician to give an interview on her Beats 1 radio show Start Making Sense, as Jehnny explains in the clip below.
In lieu of an interview, however, Harvey provided Jehnny with a short but brilliant three-track playlist instead, tantalizingly picking “From Her To Eternity” by old flame and fellow vampire Nick Cave (and The Bad Seeds), “Dropout Boogie” by Captain Beefheart And His Magic Band from 1967 debut album Safe as Milk, and “I Wonder As I Wander” by folk singer John Jacob Niles. Check them all out, below.
