rose mcgowan announces dark memoir exposing hollywood misogyny

The outspoken actress is bringing her unapologetic MO to a suitably titled book.

Two decades since she burst onto the big screen in 90s cult thrillers like The Doom Generation and Scream, Rose McGowan continues to be both highly relevant and punk AF. The outspoken actress-turned-director has made headlines in recent months for hijacking political galas, repeatedly calling out Hollywood’s rampant misogyny problem, and dividing the internet via rants against the untouchable Caitlyn Jenner. Now McGowan has announced that she’s penning a memoir about many of the issues she’s addressed in the past, and while details about the release are still scant, it will definitely be befitting of its title: Brave.

The book will be published by Harper One, an imprint of Harper Collins, and will focus on “sharing [McGowan’s] remarkable personal story while also dismantling the concept of fame and exposing Hollywood’s systemic misogyny from the inside out.” The Charmed actress has certainly led a life that’s anything but: she grew up in a cult that called for members to become sexually active as children, ran away as a teenager to live with a group of drag queens, and started filming Doom Gen four weeks after the death of her boyfriend. Keep your eyes peeled for a release date.
