If you were tiring of all this squad talk, don’t worry — Givenchy’s latest campaign has arrived in time to put the whole thing to bed. It’s going to be hard to top the house’s star studded Fall 2016 line-up.
On Wednesday artistic director Riccardo Tisci shared a preview image of the Mert & Marcus shot campaign on Instagram. Styled by Carine Roitfeld, it features Bella Hadid, Issa Lish, Mariacarla Boscono, Irina Shayk, Lily Aldridge, Greta Varlese, Yasmin Wijnaldum, Alice Vanessa Metza and Matilde Rastelli. The house’s selection is not only ambitious, but also a subtle shout out to the diverse modelling landscape of the moment. In one image they’ve managed to represent muses, icons, breakout stars and social media It-girls. Gathered together, they’re presented as equally vital to the fashion world. There’s no hint of the lingering debate about ‘real models’ versus social stars: Tisci recognises them as different, but equal.
Saying that, it is worth saving an extra moment for Bella Hadid, who really is having an unparalleled 2016. This latest campaign reveal comes just days after she was named Dior’s new make up ambassador and walked in the label’s Cruise 2017 show at Blenheim Palace.
