Today Diane von Furstenburg announced a new Chief Creative Officer in the shape of print wizard Jonathan Saunders. The London based designer shuttered his own brand in December, and since has been the subject much fashion gossip, most recently that he was going to Christian Dior.
DVF however seems like the perfect fit for Saunders, with his affinity for color and designs that women might actually want to wear. Diane herself agrees, saying “Jonathan’s extraordinary passion for colors and prints, his effortless designs, and his desire to make women feel beautiful make him the perfect creative force to lead DVF into the future. I could not have found a cooler, more intelligent designer and I cannot wait to watch him shine as our chief creative officer.”
Saunders, who founded his label in 2003 with the help of Fashion East seems similarly thrilled to have found a new home with the iconically glam Diane, saying, “The spirit with which this brand was founded is incredibly relevant today.”
Saunders’ newly created position is effective immediately, and reports to the DVF CEO Paolo Riva — his debut this September is sure to be a talking point during New York Fashion Week.
