After Drake rocked up at a Section Boyz gig at Village Underground alongside Skepta in February this year — later tweeting “The first Canadian signed to BBK. Big up my brudda @skeptagram for life yeah. And my section gunners too” — the internet wondered what that sign-up could mean, given that Drizzy is already signed to Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment. Was the Torontonian just showing his appreciation for the Boy Better Know crew, rather than actually inking a deal?
Skepta himself has now clearer up those questions for us, stating in a new interview that it is actually true, Drake has indeed signed to BBK. “We’re putting together an official worldwide BBK label,” Skeppy tells Time Out, explaining that “We haven’t talked about how it’ll work yet” but that “It’ll be separate to his existing contracts”. “Trust me, I am not gonna sue Lil Wayne,” Skepta adds — so any premature rumors about beef can be taken off the grill right about now.
