Hector is the tech bad boy of Mexico right now. Mixing styles and sounds whilst always keeping things aimed the dance floor, the producer and DJ gets down. Hosting one of the best parties at this year’s BPM Festival (breaking attendance records in the process) he shows no signs of slowing down.

Now, having just launched his own record label, VL Recordings, it’s all systems go for Hector and his VL camp. The rising star will return to Off Sonar in June this year, not to mention his summer residency at Berlin waterside hotspot, Club der Visionaere.

After launching the label in January, kicking off with a double vinyl showcase from some of his nearest and dearest including, Randall M, Hanfry Martinez Pito among others and now, we are treated to a second EP coming from the boss man himself. Hector’s Jacuzzi Killer EP (out 13th June)goes deep, with four dangerous tracks that show off the low-slung groove that Hector is loved for. Here, Hector goes deep in the mix with a debut i-DJ. Turn up the levels.

What are the top three tracks getting heavy rotation in your sets?
    David Gtronic, Sacaroca
    Groovesh, Stop Motion
    Chad Andrew, Nemea

What’s the most hedonistic party you’ve ever been to?
Kubicle back in the day at Public Life in London, which used to be a public toilet converted into an afterparty venue. I also used to play there.

What’s the most phenomenal clubbing venue in the world and why?
Warung in Brazil – It’s called ‘The Temple’ and it’s in the middle of the jungle in Brazil whilst also being next to the sea. The parties and the vibe are always incredible.

If you could go back to back with any DJ, at any venue, who would it be and why?
Laurent Garnier – At Womb in Tokyo. Laurent Garnier is one of my ultimate heroes in this business and Tokyo is my favourite city to play in so these two combined would be the ultimate for me.

History is made at night… What was the best night of your life?
The first time I came to London 16 years ago and went to Fabric and saw The Chemical Brothers. Seeing them Dj’ing for the first time marked for me a special moment in my life and career

What’s the most debauched thing you’ve ever seen on the dance floor?
    Generally everything in Berghain…

What would your dream rider consist of?
My dream rider is to always have the best tequila and plenty of it!

What does your actual rider consist of?
1 bottle of Don Julio Reposado
    1 Bottle of Moet Champagne
    2 Bottles of Sparkling water
    2 Towels

What’s your favourite party anthem of all time?
DJ Rolando, Knights Of The Jaguar

What producer are you predicting big things from this year?
All my VL crew have big things coming! Watch this space…

Where do you go when the record ends and the lights come on?
Wherever the after party is of course…

What track would you end the night on when everyone’s still awake and its time to go to sleep?
    Terence FM, Feelin Kinda’ High

    What’s your party trick?
I can make a bottle of tequila disappear…

Finish the sentence, the music sounds better with…
    Vatos Locos
