Tyler, the Creator’s no-holds approach to the English language has in the past had him banned from the UK, Australia, and New Zealand. But on the bright side, it has made him a very entertaining golf partner. And now, the perfect candidate for voicing a curse-happy cartoon cat in an upcoming R-rated film about a wretched barfly named Drunky.
Tyler’s is one name on the eclectic cast list for The Adventures of Drunky, a new collaborative film by Aaron Augenblick’s Augenblick Studios and Brooklyn-based film and animation company Cartuna. Provided enough people are interested in backing the project via IndieGogo — and reaping the Drunky-themed awards merch — the rapper will star alongside Sam Rockwell (as Drunky), Jeffrey Tambor (as God), Steve Coogan (as the Devil), and Nina Arianda as Drunky’s love interest. Animation maestro John Leguizamo is naturally slated for an appearance, as are a bunch of other funny folk including Jay Pharoah, Abby Elliott, and Dave Attell.
The backer rewards are actually rather fantastic. Just $5 will get you an original Drunky still hand-drawn by the director, $20 a digital copy of the movie, and $30 an Augenblick adult coloring book. On the upper end of the price spectrum there are bar crawls, limited edition flasks, and drunk-dial messages from wizards up for grabs. (Are you noticing a theme here?) $666,666 will get you eternal damnation and a t-shirt. No word on whether the latter is Golf Wang-branded.
