What do you do?
I split my time between being an insurance agent and modeling.
What are you wearing?
I am wearing a burgundy velvet jumpsuit by NastyGal with a necklace that’s from my sister’s line of jewelry, AVGSTA & AVGVSTVS.
What’s the best thing about working in Hong Kong?
The amount of diversity you find in the city, from the people to the food there’s always something or someone new being introduced to you weekly. Also the convenience of the public transport system! Getting around is safe, convenient and fast—which is crucial for those of us who have managed to go 25 years without a driver’s license!
How did you end up here?
I’m a half-Chinese, half-American mutt. My parents met in Taipei, married within a few months and had three kids. We often moved around because of my dad’s job and grew up in Mumbai, Cairo, Florida and California. My mom wasn’t impressed with the American school system so I finished high school in Taipei and Shanghai. When I graduated I had no clue which university to attend so I Googled the world’s top universities and The University of Hong Kong came up. I ended up applying and was accepted! Over seven years later I am still here.
Teach us a useful Cantonese phrase.
食咗飯未呀 (sik zo faan mei aa?’)—It translates directly to, “have you eaten?” Don’t take that literally though, it’s another way of saying what’s up or how are you?
