The next release on Terror Danjah’s Hardrive label is Grove EP, from producer D.O.K. Part of the legendary grime crew Aftershock — past and present members include Tinie Tempah, Bruza and Ms. Bratt — D.O.K’s new offering is a masterclass in musical murkery.
The four instrumentals take a trip down Grime’s 140bpm memory lane, while reimagining the future of the genre. “I made Grove a while back and it was getting a good response at the grime raves and on specialist radio,” D.O.K tells i-D. “Cherry Bomb” opens with classic eskimo Korg stabs and Street Fighter-esque samples, while “Kaboom” boasts screwface giving bass and ice cold sirens.
