After his original Kim Kardashian piece was destroyed—possibly by him, but that’s another story—Melbourne based graffiti artist Lush Sux ventured to Sydney to attempt a sequel. Earlier this week the the artist, whose legal name is Mark Walls, created a three story-high painting of Kim’s much discussed nude Instagram selfie on the side of a Cramorne printing business.
The story quickly became global news, but within hours it had been tagged with the word “slut”. Debate erupted over whether Lush Sux engineered the defacement to maintain media interest—he previously told i-D he didn’t—and a few days later another individual was captured spraying “No fat chicks” over the piece. Stay classy Melbourne.
Understandably bummed out by the quick defacement, but clearly not disheartened, when we spoke to the graffer he mentioned he was going to Sydney to attempt a sequel. He planned to do a sibling piece of Kim’s response picture that accompanied her blistering essay about public policing of her body.
The new mural is in the intercity suburb of Chippendale. In an email to i-D the artist commented, “Hopefully this one doesn’t get damaged as quick as the Melbourne one.”
Lets hope Sydney takes better care of their belongings than Melbourne.
